Just found an interesting video on YouTube comparing the 3D game capabilities of both these phones side-by-side.
At first I was a bit worried about how long this bloke’s fingernails were who is holding the Nexus One. However, when I saw how crap they were at the games I realised it must have been a girl 
Which phone do you think performs better?

They look exactly the same to me. Why would there be a difference in how 3d games perform?

I suppose there’d be a difference down to the software on the phone. In theory, the Desire /might/ run slower than the Nexus One because of the HTC Sense software running on top of Android 2.1…
