Android Froyo 2.2 Update Official Video

If you haven’t already, check out the official Android Froyo 2.2 update video. It explains a few ideas of what you can expect when the update finally arrives (please be June!)

I was quite impressed with the frame rate tests, although haven’t noticed much slowdown at all when playing games…

For some more detailed information on what’s new, be sure to check out Gadeget DNA’s article here.

The thing about the JIT is that it’s only going to make a difference to stuff written in Java. If games are using c++ then it’s not going to make any difference at all.

The JIT compiler should have an effect on the performance even c coding (indirectly) any optimization on a mobile device is good really. Battery life should be a little better too.

Permissions Changed notification is ace – I hate not knowing if its got something extra (like an old app that previously didn’t have adverts that decided to include them – at this point I would stop updating).

Getting really annoyed now at not having 2.2.

If HTC will only release it in Q3, how on earth long will it take T-Mobile to replace their start up logo? 😦

“Tethering” (wifi hotspot) without rooting sounds ace – although I reckon mobile networks will disable this to reduce usage (I want it so my wife can use data along side my phone without maintaining 2 packages!).

2.2 is out now for the Desire, in case anyone here hasn’t heard yet. 🙂
