HTC Desire OTA firmware update: version 1.21.405.2

HTC have released a new software update for the HTC Desire (3rd June 2010) the firmware updates some bugs and also the following (as spotted by user “tuatha” on the XDA Developers forum)

Minor fixes. New radio image. New youtube app with HQ option (with a widget that doesn’t work if you’re logged in to your account). New bootloader. Fixed Facebook/unknown contact issue (haven’t verified this personally).

I flashed the rom from the dev forum a couple of days ago, but haven’t noticed any other changes yet.

The news widget still doesn’t update automatically.

So it looks like not all the bugs have been fixed yet but I’m sure we’ll get there slowly but surely.

The update is currently not available to T-Mobile customers (at time of writing) so let us know if you receive it on yours. Be sure to follow this thread on the XDA Developers forums for more info on the update.

Here is HTC’s description of the update:

Recieved it 3 days ago (Netherlands, unlocked). Nothing spectaculair. In fact it seems my battery is draining faster! 😦 Few aesthetical changes but again, nothing to go crazy on.
By the way, I’ve been reading some complaints on the site about this update. Maybe worth checking out…

Wonder how long until we get it on t-mobile, i just want a fix for the text messages not sending sometimes, bit of a pain.

    • Jon Says:

I find it “a lot” of a pain! Hopefully we’ll ne the first network to get it seeing as T-Mobile had the phone out way before the others…

  3. Jonathan Says:

A Great thing it fixes is that I no longer have to reboot the phone to enable multi-touch if I switch to swype as my input method. Love that bout the update the rest is mediocre I guess. Seems to have slowed down my desire actually.

    • Jon Says:

Did the update just go on top of the current software or did it factory reset the phone? Is be tempted to factory reset after any “major” updates (kind of how doing an Upgrade on Windows always made your computer slower…)

Not out for Orange UK yet

  5. Dale Says:

Just updated, now it’s out for T-Mobile users, nice that it lets you download over wi-fi. Couple of screens with no progress bar are a bit annoying but it gets there in the end. Auto backs up which is nice.

Updated my Desire yesterday and ever since then have had no signal-just a limited service. And when i do eventually get a couple of bars the phone still won’t send any texts. I’m on 02 as are other members of my household who not experiencing any problems.

Does anybody know which sort of video information are supported? I remember the Intuition solely could dl 3gp using opera mini. I downloaded the twist ap, perhaps that’s the issue? How can I watch videos from sites apart from youtube? Which file sorts? Usually I am given the option of 3gp or mpeg4. Can’t get either to work. Thank you to your time! Rattling I wish I used to be eligible for the improve to EVO!
