[Update 29/10/2010 PopCap have confirmed that they are working on games for Android, check out the newer post here]

Although the development house PopCap announced a long time ago (nearly 2 years now) that they were to develop games for Android, nothing has appeared so far.

I quick sneak around their site will bring you to this: http://www.popcap.com/allgames.php?p=android which obviously means something is going on but giving the fact it is empty may lead you to think that they’re concentrating on other things (iPhone).

Will we ever see Plants Vs Zombies dawn our Android

Desires? Will Zuma ever conquer the tiny temples on your handset? My previous attempt to find out when we would see these games just pointed me in the direction of the “Mobile Java” versions of their games – not very hopeful. Let’s hope my second attempt will shed some more light on the matter.

Plants vs Zombies

Plants vs Zombies, probably the most addictive cartoony tower defence available

[UPDATE] 26/10/2010

PopCap confirmed last night on their Twitter account that they definitely are still working on Android games (see below). So hopefully (maybe in time for Christmas) we will see the likes of Plants Vs Zombies, Zuma, Peggle and Bejeweled grace our phones soon!

Funnily enough, PopCap announced last night that they ARE currently working on Android games. No word of when we’ll see them but it is definitely happening and soon: https://desirefanatics.wordpress.com/2010/10/26/plants-vs-zombies-peggle-and-bewjewled-are-coming-to-the-android-market/

Android is starting to dominate the smartphone market, yet apps are always made for it last, if ever. Bull#$%@

I think we will see this change soon. The new Google S phone by Samsung will introduce the new Gingerbread 2.3 OS into mainstream shops (rather than just online sales) so hopefully this will encourage more developers to take notice and get their acts together. PopCap are a good example of this.

  5. Android Says:
