3 (Three) UK announce the HTC Desire S for April

March 6, 2011

3 Three LogoJoining the O2 bandwagon, Three have now also announced that the HTC Desire S will be heading to their network in April. Although no date is set you can subscribe to receive a notification when the phone starts to ship.

No pricing plans yet but I’ll be sure to post some up when they come out. Being an ex-3 customer they often have some very very good deals…

The Sims 3 Android App Review (HTC Desire) + HD Video

January 3, 2011

Hi everyone and Happy New Year!

2011 is bound to be an exciting year for Android devices and with the HTC Desire and Desire HD going strong we can expect to see some great games.

The first of these great games is The Sims 3 from EA Mobile which I have reviewed below. I have also put in my video review below for those of you who can’t read.

HTC Desire HD now available from 3 UK (Three)

October 29, 2010

3 Three LogoFor those who want to get themselves a beefed-up Desire; 3 have started accepting orders for the HD version of the Desire for shipment on 2nd November.

From ‘as little’ as £35 a month you can get a free handset with 500 minutes, 1GB of Internet and 5000 texts (who uses that many texts?!). This is all based on a whopping 24 month contract however so be sure of what you’re doing before you sign up. This is by no way the best deal out there but if you’re stuck with 3 it’s the best you’re going to get in the short term.

3 (Three) UK pull the 2.2 Froyo update for the HTC Desire

October 23, 2010

Goodbye for now Froyo

It seems that the 3 network have taken down the Froyo 2.2 update from their servers after customers complained they could no longer access the Market.

The update which became available for OTA download from mid October was taken offline earlier this week after the complaints came in. No word on how many complaints were received but a quick look on the forum suggests all of 2 people had the problem.

The one user managed to get his Market app working by doing a factory reset which I would recommend after any new firmware install. So, did you have this problem and was it resolved by a simple “Ctrl Alt Del” ?

Volcano delays the HTC Desire for 3 UK customers…

April 19, 2010

…and I don’t mean three people living in the UK. I’m talking about the mobile network 3. have pointed out that 3 are actually blaming the volcano in Iceland for not having enough handsets for their customers for the launch tomorrow.

Here is the hilarious quote from the 3 Blog:

Our original plan was that further deliveries were due this week. But as a result of the ash cloud that has been causing problems all weekend, the deliveries that we were expecting from HTC’s manufacturers in Asia have not arrived. They are unlikely to until the chaos subsides

I probably shouldn’t laugh or find this funny but I can’t help it. Obviously it’d be a different story if I was still a 3 customer because of the “50” stores that will have “some” handsets in for the launch day tomorrow, not one of them is anywhere near close to where I live.

3 UK struggling to cope with demand for the HTC Desire

April 19, 2010

It seems that my old network 3 are having problems with the supply and demand for the HTC Desire.

I was previously a 3 customer until I saw the incredible deal that T-Mobile were offering so jumped ship and haven’t looked back since. However, if you’re still on 3 then you’ll be interested to know that you might not receive your HTC Desire tomorrow if you placed your upgrade order from 16th April.

3 - Can you wait for the HTC Desire?

As I reported earlier, 3 have confirmed the launch date of 20th April. I didn’t think to check the 3 Blog for more info – but I just have.

It seems that due to demand, 3 are doing away with branding the phone with their own apps and instead just launching the phone as-is (although still SIM locked obviously). The 3 apps such as Skype, MSN etc will be launched through the Android Market instead.

There are also some details on tariffs (for new customers at least)

Price for new customers:

Pay Monthly – £35 Internet Texter plan – £35 per month, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, unlimited 3-to-3 calls and 750 minutes

Pay As You Go – £349.99

No details for existing customers but £349.99 for the phone is one of the cheapest in the UK.

Finally – HTC Desire coming to 3 (Three) UK network on 20th April

April 1, 2010

I’ve just found out, by chance, that the HTC Desire is set to be available from UK network 3 (Three) from 20th April – that’s just another 19 days wait for those of you (like me) on the 3 network.

I found this out from a story on Pocket-Link.

Twitter joins Skype and Windows Live Messenger as a service which 3 customers can use without ever having to part with any cash when in the UK.

In other news, 3 has confirmed that they will also be stocking the HTC Desire from the 20 April.

This is the only site I have found with any information about the release date for the Desire on the 3 network so I am clinging onto it like nothing else.

The end is in sight people!

Will you get your HTC Desire this week?

March 24, 2010

Word has it that the mobile phone website will be receiving stock of the HTC Desire this Friday coming (26th March).

This could mean that you could have your HTC Desire as early as Saturday 27th if they get stock and ship the same day!

Before I carry on, I’m not being paid by to write this, I’m just trying to find the best deals I can!

The deals on the HTC Desire have certainly improved since they first started appearing online a month or so ago.

Free gifts offered with the HTC Desire

For example, you can now get the HTC Desire on Vodafone for free with 1200 minutes and unlimited texts with a free gift too. The example to the right shows you can select from £190 cashback, 14 months half price line rental or an Xbox 360 Elite to name a few. The best deal would be to cut your line rental for 14 months and you’d save £280 in total which isn’t half bad.

HTC Desire coming to 3 (Three) UK “mid/late April”

March 22, 2010

The official news from 3 (Three) UK is that they will be offering the HTC Desire but not until mid/late April.

3 - Can you wait for the HTC Desire?

The team who run the 3 Blog have been listening to the comments of their customers to offer more of the latest phones on their network.

Having only been with 3 for about a year I was surprised to hear that they’re not the best operator for offering the latest and greatest phones on their network (I got my Nokia N97 on the day of release after all) so this is obviously a big thing for them.

Here’s what they said on the matter earlier today:

HTC Desire – We’ve already said we’re ranging this one. It’s one of the most exciting handsets of the year and we’re over the moon to be ranging it. It’ll launch on 3 mid/late April. We won’t be the first to market but we won’t be as late as we have been with other big phones in the past. Our pricing will be competitive…

So hold on 3 customers, you may be envious of T-Mobile users (as I am) but if you can wait a couple more weeks then you should be able to get the phone for free on a £35 a month contract. Don’t forget you’ll get free Skype, MSN and Spotify. No word on pre-orders yet though.

Worth the wait? Possibly, can I wait? Not sure… :s
